So far "The Convergence Theorem" has been going more toward the route of identifying themes addressed in the first film I am choosing to analyze, Ex Machina, then drawing those themes out with sources that start a conversation for each theme. These addressed issues are not simple ones that can be solved with simple solutions, they are issues that have either been the epicenter for conversation for centuries or conversations that have just entered the controversial sphere and turn out to be some of the most difficult to discuss.
Themes like sexism/feminism, gender and sexuality, are some of the obvious themes that are presented to audiences within the first 30 minutes of the film. But when you go a little deeper you find that the modern day topics of big data and technological singularity/technological advancement. Things do tend to take a more pessimist view when looking at the future of technology in the sense of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
While the film simply uses a number of ways to display and play with these themes it is our job to continue the conversation. This blog is set to identify, address, and promote the progression of such controversial conversations.
