The Beauty Breaker Campaign- Renee Curva Final

My final product of my project was a researched Tumblr campaign called The Beauty Breaker Campaign. I focused on the socially constructed beauty myth, how the media uses images for consumerism, and how beauty standards in media affect women. I did a brief history component on how the color pink has been used ever since the beginning of the 20th century for women and how branding pink has been correlated with femininity.  I researched eating disorders, body dissatisfaction, and theories such as the Social Comparison Theory and the Cultivation Theory. I also used examples to show how sexualized ads are used in today’s society. I then delved into shaming and how it has become a prevalent issue in the real world and social media world. At the end, I was able to get interviews with some women about how media has affected their perception of beauty and what their own definitions of beauty are.
