How live streams real story vs file sharing, picture of edited events. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the Mike Brown incident in Ferguson was a hot topic that displayed to the world in a vast amount of media forms. Through this incident there were discussion of racial profiling that presented an enormous amount of political issues. I would like to influence the media with an live stream documentary of this incident vs editing media. We will see how information edited most times doesn’t give us a clear picture of a specific issue. I will attempt to provide Documentary of the live streaming incident of the Mike Brown incident. Live streaming the real story vs file share edited pictures of events. We will view a sneak peek our way into the marketing strategy is used to display factual information. I went to Ferguson in attempt to capture truth vs edited stories. When you live stream you are able to judged and held accountable for the rare unedited work. Social media and critics are forced to see the truth and then judge how they want to strategize their stories after live stream. Social media platforms to broadcast live footage from a smartphone as well as Video camera are options . Both give viewers an option to “like” videos and allow public chats within the streams . It display the number of viewers tuned in live and both allow users to live stream for an unlimited amount of time. Research will be done to display the Ferguson Document of the good, bad indifferent, true as well as controversy issues. Live streaming allow one the ability to immerse themselves in the story. You can investigate the truth vs edit scene. From the unedited live footage you are able to collaborate you real point of view. I project to give you the eye of a producer. You will not be distracted from the truth when presented live streaming. Keep in mind live streams/scopes present truth to the naked eye vs forms of edited video/pics. You make your choice, you are know the judge 0f streaming vs edited footage.  |

I think this is a great idea for the final project. I think that it would be interesting if you focused on how censorship is now fighting against the trend of live streaming. You could research on platforms such as Periscope and how live streaming platforms like this have affected how news is broadcasted to an audience. Is censorship in news affected greatly by this? With that said, I think you should focus on how you want to present these ideas to your audience. Through a video with archival footage? A research paper? I think this idea can be presented in so many great ways.

ReplyDeleteThe idea of focusing on livestreaming information is an interesting sub topic you have going on here. In terms of for just leisure, more and more people are watching their entertainment on Twitch rather than TV or Youtube. While not entirely related to your main point, I think you can bring this up as a strong example of live streamed content being on the rise.
ReplyDeleteYou should also mention that edited media is problematic because it's what the media chooses to show us. Back in the 80s we had the Iran Hostage Crisis which began Middle Eastern hatred in America where the media played a major role. Essentially the terrorists then and even now desire the media in order to get their message across. Media was heavily influenced with anti Middle Eastern sentiment, and this gave rise to the Commando films that are associated with the 80s.
Mike Brown is a strong example to base your project on, but you can also use the woman we saw in the video in class who was shot and how that "live captured" made much more of an impact than were the media of her land would have just said "Rebellious woman killed for inciting violence".

DeleteBarbara this sounds like a very important project to you personally and you should incorporate your passion into your work (not that you haven't already!) It should be emotional and thought provoking and I feel like thats what your going for.
