Culture of Hip-Hop Pitch

For my final project I would like to do a series of blog posts on tumblr which will discuss the influence of hip-hop culture on mainstream society and how hip-hop has changed over the years. Hip-hop has influences all over the world and in other forms of media as well, such as movies, commercials, ads, and even sports.

Right now I am still in the early stages of this project. I plan on analyzing discussions of black culture in hip-hop and how white audiences and artists are influenced. I would like to compare and contrasts current artists to legends to showcase the transitions of hip-hop. I would go even further to discuses its influences on other forms of music as well primarily R&B.

I want to showcase the impact of hip-hop in media. I want to analyze the Broadway play "Hamilton" and discuss the critical acclaim associated with the play along with possible controversies. Belle Hooks speaks extensively of the culture of hip-hop, she will be one of my primary resources over the course of this project.

I chose a tumblr blog because I can easily update it when I chose and I can use a multitude of text and video. I hope I can reach a wide audience, no only the African-American community but perhaps change certain peoples negative perceptions of hip-hop. Hopefully I can use this as part of a portfolio for a future job/internship.
