Final Proposal: Theodore Liggians

For our final project I have decided that I will create a tumblr blog to house video clips that address the role that movies hold in society to persuade and keep the masses up-to-date. By "keep the masses up-to-date" I mean address topics that are controversial and sometimes address smaller topics or random topics.
Two movies that I have in mind to begin with are Ex Machina and Reservoir Dogs. Ex Machina for numerous reasons like the question of gender and sexuality that has been controversial for centuries, and the question of human life or a conscious life in general. Reservoir Dogs would be use specifically for the scene when Steve Buscemi justifies why he does not tip waiters.

The design of the tumblr blog would be one that resembles a collage of photos scattered on a floor. When you select one of the photos it would bring up the video and it's significance. The final text will be a few paragraphs explaining the correlation of each film with society and how it plays in the bigger picture of the medium of film being used to keep people updated with social norms.

    Im going to sound like Tom Hanks in Big but "I don't get it?" The prompt says "create a short piece of media which focuses on a social (or political) issue to specifically address the role of media, technology, audience, owners and media makers." I guess I don't really understand what exactly the issue is or what "the role that movies hold in society to persuade" means exactly.I don't know it feels a little broad but maybe honed in a little bit more it would make a little more sense to me,

    I have to agree with David, however. I have no seen Reservoir dogs or Ex Machina. Perhaps if I watched them I would understand, but I think when you finally finish this project you should put detail in it to the point where people shouldn't have had to watch an entire movie to understand, perhaps the overall scene and clip would be enough for the viewer to understand what you mean. For instance a movie like KIDS, which was released in the 90's is about a group of wild teenagers, who skip school, drink, do drugs, have a lot of sex etc. That is a movie that tackles gender roles, stds, and sexuality, if you havent watched it you should check it out. Rosasrio Dawson has a role in that film.
