We spend six, seven hundred dollars on our smartphones. A couple thousand more on lap and desktops. How about glasses and watches. Do we really know what’s on our hands and faces? Do we really know how much we’re capable as marketers, friends, potential gurus ? Of course we’re all aware of how brilliant the smartphone can be, but how much aware ? I wanna showcase How the Internet, Social Media And Mobile Technologies Are Bringing Different Cultures Together because
A. We don’t even know they exist, or use a similar but inferior one.
B. We have them already but just see them as cool and colorful “apartments” on our real estate “home” screen. And
C. Because… ”I’ll just Google it”.
Still taking the train or bus? Using Google Maps ? Contemplating about drinking and driving ? Download Uber.
Don't Know what the hell your friends or strangers are talking about next to you ? Or that new Drake and Future song ?
Need some funding for your film or music project ?
Your vlog business slowing down a little ?
Maybe you don't need the latest $3000 DSLR .. 4k video and 12mp!
We’re more connected than ever and that’s a great and cool thing. To take us out of our heads and gadgets for a few minutes to truly appreciate what we have in front of us is my intention. We have these mini computers on our bodies that’s clearly revolutionizing the way we think and interact.
My point is: we've never had a better chance at helping ourselves than in 2015. But in order to do better, I think, we should be reminded with a certain level of awareness every now and then. What better way to spark this awareness with simple appreciation for these incredible technologies and businesses.
A comedic video piece about three minutes long, using a green screen, highlighting the features - upsides and downsides - of said technology and businesses. I'll be immersed in these virtual worlds, that I've personally shot (using my Canon70D) and other worlds I'll "borrow" from YouTube,Vimeo, Google Images. When I say immersed, I'll be using voiceover for some images as I lay the foundation for why I think that particular piece of media, tech or business is great. For other images, I'll be directly on or "in" the screen using my body language as well as my voice to relay my opinion and the facts. I feel this is going to have a comedic and lighthearted undertone just because of the rareness of using green screens. I know my presence and sense of humor will definitely show itself on the screen and translate into something to be reckon with.
Research and Resources: I have researched over five different tutorials and websites - along with practicing (and buying) the necessary software to follow through with this plan, so I consider myself ALL IN at this point now. Speaking of purchases and going all in with resources, I recently bought the three point lighting system and necessary backdrop materials to completely furnish this setup/studio. The links to these websites, articles, and tutorials that will guide me along this production process are as follows:
I can go on and on and on with the resources now as the internet and fellow YouTubers have made it their duty, it seems, to help others make great pieces of media for the world. The images, along with many others, will also be on the video. I have already started capturing people taking advantage of some of the things highlighted above.

Professor Bergenland - for tips
Nice concept, really looking forward to see the final outcome!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great topic to bring to light, people are always raving about and wanting new technology, but most fail to use it to its full potential or even know what their technology is capable of. Media is a powerful thing, but knowledge is even stronger. If more people knew the power they have by owning their technology, there is no telling what could happen.
