Introduction Post: Bruno

Hey everyone, my name is Bruno. I'm double majoring in Video Production and Theater here at Rutgers so I'm proud to say that I am guaranteed a job right after I graduate!

Like anyone who aspires to be an artist, my days usually end with some solemn staring at the ceiling contemplating whether or not I made the right choice in life. What keeps me going is the fact that no other job seems nearly as exciting, interesting, and fulfilling as filmmaking (that and the fact that I've already spent my parents money for two and a half years of college in the field, so there's kind of no going back...). I say "filmmaking" because I think it covers everything from directing/producing to writing/acting, which are all things that I want to do. Some might call me a Renaissance Man but what I'd really like to be called is Bruno *badum tss* (I'm only somewhat proud of that one).

It's safe to say that media is a huge part of my life. I'm always trying to find a good new TV show or movie to watch and study. Besides actually getting out there and shooting, I believe it's equally  important to consume as much television and film as possible, both good and bad, and really dissect it. Why was this so good? Why was that so bad? It's easy to say "I want to break the rules and do my own thing," and by all means everyone should, but its worth noting that the most brilliant minds in television and film all had/have an extensive knowledge of their medium, which allowed them to "do their thing." What's my point? Who knows. I guess it's that, in order to become an artist that matters, I feel that I should consume as much media as possible and learn whatever I can from it.

I am absolutely terrified of (but equally excited about) what the future holds. The goal is to be a filmmaker, but aside from getting internships while in college, I'm not sure what else to do. From what we talked about in our first class, I'm really hoping that Convergence will help.

Here's a link to a reel I recently made: https://vimeo.com/138272984

And here's a picture of the guy who showed us what studying various types of media can do.
